CURRENT EDUCATION, OUTREACH PROGRAMS OR ACTIVITIES
- Predominantly, information is disseminated through personal contact, frequently by telephone, and less frequently, by public meetings.
- Ongoing: informing residents of strip mining in our region, particularly gravel and coal, and participating in the development and appeal processes of Parkland County.
- Accumulating articles on various issues: toxic emissions, strip mining, heavy metals, health studies relating to fossil fuel emissions
Other information:
- Originally formed to oppose subdivision of farmland in 1970s.
- Remobilized in 90s to challenge composting/dump facility west of Keephills, close to North Saskatchewan River.
- Remobilized in 2001 to appeal expansions of Genesse and Keephills power plants.
